Southern Province Officials Briefed on 2026 Education Reforms

Prime Minister and Minister of Education Dr. Harini Amarasuriya today briefed
Southern Province education authorities on the new education reforms set to take effect in 2026.
Speaking at the Dakshinapaya Auditorium, Dr. Amarasuriya said the reforms will cover curriculum updates,
teacher professionalism, restructuring the administrative framework, and improving infrastructure to ensure
equal and quality education. She noted that limiting class sizes to 25–30 students would enhance
learning outcomes.
Southern Province Governor Bandula Harischandra, MP Nihal Galappaththi,
Education Ministry Secretary Nalaka Kalubewa, Southern Province Chief Secretary Sumith Alahakoon, and
other senior officials from the Ministry of Education, Department of Examinations, and
National Institute of Education attended the event.
