Southern Province Education Department The Southern Province encompasses 70 national schools and 1031 provincial schools, supported by an administrative structure consisting of 11 zonal education offices and 39 divisional education offices.
Responsibilities of the Department
Ensuring Adequate School Infrastructure and Resources.
Supervising and Administering of schools.
Developing and Implementing Strategic and Annual Educational Development Plans.
Facilitating Professional Development and Performance Evaluation of Educational Personnel.
Conducting In-Service Training Programs in Accordance with National Standards.
Managing Personnel Records for All Educational Staff.
Administering Assessments and Examinations in Compliance with National Examination Standards.
Administering Non-Formal and Special Education Programs.
Liaising with District Engineers for School Infrastructure Projects.
Securing Ministerial Approval for Localized Curriculum Adaptations.
Maintaining and Updating the Education Management Information System (EMIS) and Disseminating Reports.
Directing, Overseeing, and Regulating Curriculum Implementation within the Southern Province.
Executing Construction Projects under Ministerial Auspices.
Managing Programs at Teacher Training and Computer Resource Centers.
Managing Programs at Field Study and Resource Centers.
Conducting Disciplinary Proceedings related to Education Personnel.
Developing and Enhancing School Recreational and Assembly Facilities.
Brokering External Support for Schools.
